GOD IS FAITHFUL – There’s the need as His children to reciprocate His nature in us as endorsed in 2 Peter 1:1-4, in being the object of His Faithfulness as we are of His Love as it’s written “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”

AFD November 2020 Theme – GOD IS FAITHFUL! – and it is about – “Thriving And Achieving Life Plan, Purpose And pursuit meaningfully and in fulfilment, through Faithfulness (being faithful) as God Is, In Christ Jesus Stead”. Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord”

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised”

Luke 18:1-8 “. . . And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith (Greek “pistis” – means faithfulness) on the earth?” (Emphasis Mine)

Luke 16:1-13 “. . .He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.

Today we live in an age where faithfulness to ourselves and to others is in great demand for creating an atmosphere that we can enjoy. Unfortunately we are so eager to demand faithfulness from others while we may not be faithful ourselves even in the least of things.

Hence I am grateful to the Holy Spirit that this month He has constrained me to challenge us on the need of achieving life goals through faithfulness. Hence the reason to set tasks and targets for oneself in making it be.

We need to know that our God is a faithful God. This is just one basic nature of God – FAITHFULNESS. We being His children cannot afford to live in any other way and expect to achieve greatness in life.

The Results of Being Faithful

Great admirable marriages, homes & businesses are not achieved merely from structural design but from faithful human hearts. The results of being faithful are the prosperity and good success that we all desire. When we make faithfulness an avenue of achieving life’s goals, we promote honesty, decency and healthy lifestyles.

In the scripture quoted at the beginning, Luke 18:7-8, Jesus asked a question about faithfulness. The word FAITH is translated ‘pistis’ in Greek, which denotes faithfulness in English. Jesus wondered how many would be faithful – to trust God and wait upon His Word – without seeking alternative solutions to life’s challenges; more so, to await faithfully until He returns in the midst of good and challenging times. The 2nd main text, Luke 16:1-13, shows the reason that many of us cannot achieve our goals. It is because we are not faithful in matters entrusted into our hands by others.

God’s Faithful Nature

In achieving life’s goals, it would be great for you to look at the nature of God regarding faithfulness as could be found of Him in the following scriptural terms:.

  1. God is faithful to Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13
  2. God is faithful to His Word and promises. Hebrews 10:23
  3. God is faithful to His relationship. 1 Corinthians 1:9
  4. God is faithful to forgive. 1 John 1:9
  5. God is faithful in agreement. Deuteronomy 7:9
  6. God is faithful to establish and deliver. 1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Thessalonians 3:3
  7. God is faithful to accomplish His part in the assignment that he gives to us. 1 Thessalonians 5:24
  8. God is a faithful creator. 1 Peter 4:19 . . . and many more of our God.

Know full well that we are the offspring of God, the sheep of His pasture. Acts 17:24-29, Psalms 100:3. It then means that we can live a faithful life and achieve good successes. The other reason that we can achieve success is because we are the seed of Abraham – who was faithful and prospered. The same grace is available to us today in spite of our challenges to be faithful and to prosper. Galatians 3:6-9, 13-14, 26-29. (See Genesis 13:2; 24:1)

Faithfulness Applied

  1. A faithful employee – Whatever position you hold, God requires you to be faithful. Matthew 24:45-51; Ephesians 6:5-8; 1 Peter 2:18-20; Colossians 3:22-25.
  2. A faithful employer – look after your staff well whatever the business. Ephesians 6:6-9; Colossians 4:1; Proverbs 11:24-26; Deuteronomy 10:17-18; Acts 10:34-35; Romans 2:11.
  3. Faithful in your relationships. This is a vital ingredient in enhancing a healthy society.
  • Faithfulness in the kingdom business. As a minister, pastor, ministry worker etc, you cannot afford to attend to ministry work in the way that pleases you and at the same time want God’s backing. No adulterations of any sort will make God be a part of it. Faithfulness to God’s Word and commands is a prerequisite to achieving desired goals. 1 Corinthians 4:2; 2 Timothy 2:1-2; Proverbs 27:23; John 21:15-17 (Numbers 12:7; Hebrews 3:2, 5).
  • In marriage one cannot afford to be unfaithful and achieve with God. 1 Timothy 3:11; Proverbs 31:10; Proverbs 20:6; Ephesians 5:21-33; 1 Peter 3:1-12.
  • Faithfulness is also vital in a parent – child relationship. Ephesians 6:1-4; Colossians 3:20-21; Proverbs 22:6
  • Faithfulness in friendships. Proverbs 27:6, 10; Proverbs 17:17; Proverbs 18:24.

Faithfulness Rewards:

  1. Abound with blessings. Proverbs 28:20
  2. Abound with health. Proverbs 13:17, 2 Corinthians 5:20
  3. A refresher for others. Proverbs 25:13
  4. There will be increase and promotion. Matthew 25:21,23
  5. There will be eternal reward. Matthew 25:21b, 23b

Finally, as one with an achievers’ mandate, I beckon on you to set task and target this month on how to walk in faithfulness if you want to partner with God. I pray you be found faithful in every area of your life through this month and thereafter.

May you Be FAITHFULLY PROSPERED in God’s grace and BLESSEDNESS in everyway in Christ Jesus Stead. Amen!

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING ON THINK-TANK:

“Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. 13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again . . .20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. 25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” And His disciples heard it” Mark 11:12-14, 20-26 NKJV

“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” 1 Corinthians 1:9 NKJV

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified” Romans 8:28-30. NKJV

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised . . . 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul” Hebrews 10:23, 35-39.

However, this NOVEMBER 2020 theme will be expanded in course of the SERVICES & TIMES in all meetings through the year and Month in “Scripture Pasture” Study and “Pastoral Messages & Ministrations”.

I gladly welcome you, your friends and family to be with us in Fellowship and Worship. I promise you that you can never be the same again as you ponder over the truth of these unadulterated, inspiring, revealing and empowering living word of God. I pray that God revitalize and rejuvenates you and all that is about you, so that you may become the very best of which God has created you to be in your daily journey of Destiny Molding, Life Transformation, Dignity Restoration and Kingdom Faith Establishment, Community Social Cohesion and Enrichment and Development, Success Empowerment & Fulfillment, Grace Impartation and more, while awaiting the Lord’s Return.

Shalom & Kingdom greetings in the precious name of our Lord & Saviour King – Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. With awesome privilege, I gladly welcome all visitors and existing browsers into this Month APRIL & EASTER 2012 THEME: OUR REDEMPTION – A DONE DEED! “Achievers Daring Acts To Possess Their Promised Land In Christ”

I do know that a man’s ignorance is his own mountain and the knowledge of the truth will set him free. Hence I am leaving you with the undermentioned scriptures to read, to give you a line of food for thought as a way to indicate how the theme of the month will be approach. I therefore commend you to take time to ponder and meditate on them in prayers (Acts 20:32).

Psalms 111:9He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name.”

Luke 1:68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people,”

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—”

Galatians 3:13-14Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Genesis 12:1-5“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s  house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.”

Genesis 15:7-21 “Then He said to him, “I amthe Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.” And he said, “Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?” So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds in two. 11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away. 12 Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” 17 And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces. 18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

Genesis 17:9-14 “And God said to Abraham: “As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. 13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.””

Genesis 23:1-20 “Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is,Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. Then Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, “I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.” And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him, “Hear us, my lord: You are a mighty prince among us; bury your dead in the choicest of our burial places. None of us will withhold from you his burial place, that you may bury your dead.” Then Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, the sons of Heth. And he spoke with them, saying, “If it is your wish that I bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and meet with Ephron the son of Zohar for me, that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he has, which is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me at the full price, as property for a burial place among you.” 10 Now Ephron dwelt among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the presence of the sons of Heth, all who entered at the gate of his city, saying, 11 “No, my lord, hear me: I give you the field and the cave that is in it; I give it to you in the presence of the sons of my people. I give it to you. Bury your dead!” 12 Then Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land; 13 and he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, “If you will give it, please hear me. I will give you money for the field; take it from me and I will bury my dead there.” 14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him, 15 “My lord, listen to me; the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver. What is that between you and me? So bury your dead.” 16 And Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed out the silver for Ephron which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, currency of the merchants. 17 So the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, which were within all the surrounding borders, were deeded 18 to Abraham as a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city. 19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. 20 So the field and the cave that is in it were deeded to Abraham by the sons of Heth as property for a burial place.”

Deuteronomy 1:5-8 “On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain,[a] in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.”

Deuteronomy 2:24-25 ‘Rise, take your journey, and cross over the River Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle. 25 This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the nations under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.’””

Revelation 1:5-6 “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed[a] us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings[b] and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 5:9-12  “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;  10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.  11And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;  12Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”

1 Peter 2:5, 9 “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light “

Believers’ Fellowship

TOPIC: BELIEVERS’ FELLOWSHIP

TEXT: Psalm 133; Genesis 49:10; Acts 2:44-47, 1 Peter3:8, 1 Corinthians 1:9; 1 John 1:3; Matthew 5:21-26; 1 Corinthians 6:1-12; Matthew 18:15-20.

MEMORY VERSE: “Not forsaking the assemblies of ourselves together as the manner (habit) of some is, but exhorting (communing with) one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”. Hebrews 10:25.

INTRODUCTION: We have concluded in our last study series about act of the “True Worship” of God, we shall be considering in this new series “Believers Fellowship” another act of being in Church. When we come together we don’t only come to worship the triune God  – God our Father in the name of Jesus by the Holy Spirit –  but also to fellowship with each other in the faith of our God and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. When you are born again, you become a member of a family, God’s family. Hence you are to share intimately with other members of the same family, particularly in a locality.  This gathering together of the believers is referred to in the Bible as the Church, the Assembly of believers, and the fellowship of the brethren. The Church is a local and universal body of born again and spirit-filled believers in Christ Jesus having a Shepherd (Head/Leadership).

In Greek the word Fellowship is called KOINONIA meaning Communion, Fellowship, a sharing of something in common – Heb. 12:22 – 24, Psalm 122:1; Gen. 49:10b; 1 John 1:3. Every believer needs the fellowship of other believer.  It is here that we are built together as a holy habitation for God. A believer that does not fellowship with others misses a lot.  This is why you should understand what the Bible says about believer fellowship, what you should expect during a believers fellowship and other things.  Please open your heart to the Holy Spirit so that He may explain the Word of God to you – Psalm 122:1.

DISCUSSION (Study Analysis):

1a. What does the bible mean by Believers’ Fellowship or Assembly of Believers?

i) It means Communion (1 Corinthians 10:16-22) Meaning Common Union, that is, something in Common and in Union – The act of sharing something in common. If we are to have fellowship, we must have something in common, and must be shared in true unity and union. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17.

ii) Partners (Luke 5:8-10) Meaning we are partner together in the same mindset of kingdom business in spite of our diversity (not in opposition). We are in partnership, working together for the same God as co-worker, all pulling together rather than pulling against each other.

iii) Contribution (Rom. 15:26-27) Meaning the act of giving to each other – spiritually, materially and financially etc. The early Church kind of fellowship contributed to each others need without any wanting in the midst. They gave liberally to each other – (Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-37; 2 Cor. 8:13-15)

iv) Partaker and Sharer Meaning to share with one another’s lives – is to rejoice with them, pray with them, mourn with them etc. Fellowship cannot be remote- it must be personal, caring, and loving. We partake with one another, we share with one another, we love one another in the deepest sense of the word (1Cor. 13:4-8a).

v) To Participate In and With Meaning to be part of them, to be one, even as the Father and the Son are one. (John 17:20-23).

NOTE: True Christian Fellowship, as outlined above, is a rare but beautiful thing. No wonder Apostle Paul counselled us to be “eager and willing to maintain the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3).

1b. The need for fellowship.

a) Hebrews 10:24-25; b) Psalm 133:2-3; c) Malachi 3:16; d) Acts 2:44; e) Psalms 119:63; f) Matthew 18:18-20; 5:21-26; g) 1 Corinthians 1:9.

2. What do we expect at a believers Fellowship:

a)      Psalm 133:1-3: Divine love share; The Anointing of the Holy Spirit; and the Lord blessings.

b)      Deut. 23:12-14, Obadiah 1:17-18, 2 Cor. 6:16:  The Presence of God; The Power of God to save, deliver help and heal.

c)      Acts 2:42-47, 4:31-35:  The Holy Spirit and divers help.

d)     Eph. 5:19-20, Col. 3:16-17, Heb. 3:12-14, 1 John 1:5-7: Fellowship, exhortation, etc.

e)      1 Tim. 3:15; 1 Corinthians 14:26

3. With whom are we to Fellowship:

a)      The Father – 1 John 1:3, Jn. 14:23, 17:21-23, 2 Cor. 6:18, Isa. 57:15.

b)      The Son – 1 Cor. 1:9, 1 Jn. 1:3, and Matt. 18:20, Jn. 14:23, 15:2-8.

c)      The Holy Spirit – Rom. 8:9, 1 Cor. 3:16, 2 Cor. 13:14, Phil 2:1.

d)     The Brethren – Acts 1:14, 2:1, 42, 47, Matt. 13:55-56, Eph. 5:15, 1Jn. 3:3-7.

4. Who not to fellowship with:

a) The Ungodly – Psalm 1:1.

b) Workers of Iniquity – Psalm 6:8, 26:5.

c) False Teachers – I Tim. 6:3-5.

d) The disorderly 2 Thess. 3:6.

e) Infidel, Idolaters, and fornicators – 1 Cor. 5:9-11, 2 Cor. 6:14 – 7:1

f) Unbelievers 2 Cor. 6:14.

g) The Devil – Eph. 5:11,

h) Fallen Angles (demons) – Rev. 8:12, 1 Cor. 10:20, Rev. 19:20b, Deut. 32:17, Psalm 106:37,

i) Worship of Holy Angels – Rev. 19:10, Rev 22:8-9, Heb. 1:13-14

NOTE: The act of fellowship has nothing to do with relating with Heathens but with the system and life styles which contradicts the Christian faith. For there is a very great difference in terms between in the act of relationship and fellowship considering them in the context of the scriptures.

5. What are the blessings of consistent fellowship with God and other believers: A) Psalm 119:165, b) Matt. 18:18-20, c) 1 Jn. 1:7,  d) Rev. 3:20, e) Psalm 3:8,  f) 125:1-2,  g) Jn. 10:28, h) 2 Tim. 2:21,  i) Rev. 3:21.

CONCLUSION: A separation and Isolation Christian is a contradiction in terms, we need the love and fellowship of one another for a stable spiritual growth and efficiency. Every believer needs the fellowship of other believer.  It is here that we are built together as a holy habitation for God. A believer that does not fellowship with others misses a lot. This is why you should understand what the Bible says about believer fellowship, what you should expect during a believers fellowship and other things.

MEMORY VERSE: “Not forsaking the assemblies of ourselves together as the manner (habit) of some is, but exhorting (communing with) one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”. Heb. 10:25.
