SPIRITUAL FRUIT BEARING (FRUITFULNESS)

God desires fruitfulness for all His children. Unfruitfulness is not of God. God is a thriving and blossoming God and delights to see His own, walk and live in this covenant right. Spiritual growth and fruitfulness are proof of our contact with the Spirit of God with all dedication and devotion. To be born again and Spirit filled is biblical. God hates stagnancy. It is either we are hot or cold, but not lukewarm with God – Revelations 3:15-16. For this reason, Jesus cursed the fig tree for having no fruit; and there’s scriptural woe on any of who stays at ease in Zion – Mark 11:12-14, 20-21; Amos 6:1. God has promised to give every single grass in the field the needed rain for fruitfulness – Zechariah 10:1. God pours out His Spirit upon His Children in order that they would be fruitful. I would encourage you to take advantage of this great God given opportunity, in turn fulfilling prophecy as it is written – Joel 2:28-30; Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49. It is a great blemish to remain unfruitful in Zion – Isaiah 4:1; Genesis 29:32; 1 Samuel 1:6; Obadiah 1:17; Hebrews 12:22-24.
This study is to remind us of the necessity laid on us to bear fruit as God’s
heritage, not any kind of fruit, but after God’s image and likeness.

Further Scriptural Reading To This Theme:

I do know that a man’s ignorance is his own mountain and the knowledge of the truth will set him free. Hence I am leaving you with the undermentioned scriptures to read, to give you a line of food for thought as a way to indicate how the theme of the month will be approach. I therefore commend you to take time to ponder and meditate on them in prayers (Acts 20:32).

Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

John 15:1-8, 16 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples . . . 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Ephesians 4:7-16 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

However, this month theme will be expanded in course of the SERVICES & TIMES in all meetings through the year in “Scripture Pasture” Study and “Pastoral Messages & Ministrations”.

AFD NOVEMBER 2013 THEME

AFD_NOVEMBER_2013_-_2John 15:12-14 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”

1 John 4:4, 17 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world . . . Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1 John 5:3-5For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Colossians 4:17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:9-16 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God

James 3:15-18 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Romans 5:17, 21 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) . . . that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

John 10:34-35 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken

John 14:14-16 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever

Spiritual Fruit Bearing

TOPIC: SPIRITUAL FRUIT BEARING (FRUITFULNESS)

BIBLE TEXT: John 15:1-8, 16; 2 Peter 1:1-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Mark 11:12-14, 20-21.

INTRODUCTION: God desires fruitfulness for all His children – unfruitfulness is not of God. God is a blossoming God and delights to see His own, walk and live in this covenant right. Spiritual growth and fruitfulness are proof of our contact with the Spirit of God with all dedication and devotion. To be born again and Spirit filled is biblical. God hates stagnancy. It’s either we are hot or cold, not lukewarm with God – Revelations 5:15-16. For this reason, Jesus cursed the fig tree and put a woe on all them at ease in Zion. (Mark 11:12-14, 20-21; Amos 6:1). God has promised to give every single grass in the field rain for fruitfulness (Zechariah 10:1). More so, God is already pouring out His Spirit upon His Children for this task of fruitfulness and you have to take advantage of this great opportunity (Joel 2:28-30; Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49). It is a great blemish to remain unfruitful (Isaiah 4:1; Genesis 29:32; 1Samuel 1:6). This study is to remind us of the necessity laid on us to bear fruit as God’s heritage, not any kind of fruit, but after God’s image.

DISCUSSION  (Study Analysis):

1).    What does it mean to bear fruit: Matthew 12:33; Luke 13:6-9; John 15:8

a) To reproduce after ones kind

b) To produce good fruit or flower

c) To give birth in ones lineage

d) To behave in a specified manner

e) To yield positive results

f) To exhibit a particular behaviour

g) To have good results

2).    Who can bear fruit for the Lord:John12:24; Romans 6:6-7, 7:4; 1John 1:9)

3a). What are the conditions for bearing fruit: (John 15:4-5; 2 Peter 1:5-8)

3b). Is bearing of fruit obligatory or a necessity? (John 15:16; Colossians 1:10; Romans 7:4)

4). Five degrees in fruit bearing: (John 15:1-8, 16)

a) No fruit (beareth no fruit) John 15:2

b) Fruit bearing (beareth fruit) John 15:2

c) More fruit (beareth more fruit) John 15:2

d) Much fruit (beareth much fruit) John 15:5, 8

e) Abiding fruit (fruit beareth) John 15:16

5). Kinds of Fruit We Need To Bear Spiritually:

a) Disciples/Converts (Sinner saved or backsliders restored) Romans 1:13; John 15:16; Luke 15:3-24; Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19-20.

b) Christian Character (Galatians 5:22-23)

c) Christian Conduct. The fruit of righteousness (right living or behaviour) Romans 6:21-22; Philippians 1:11; 1Tim 3:15

6).    Some likely possible cause for a Christian not bearing fruit: (1Timothy 5:6; Isaiah 59:1-2; John 15:2; 1 Samuel 2:9b; 2 Peter 1:4-11)

7).    Why must a Christian not be satisfied with being saved alone: (John 15:8; Revelation 22:12; 2 Corinthians 5:9-10; Matthew 21:19; Luke 15:7, 10, 22-24)

8).    Consequence of not being fruitful: (2 Peter 1:9-10; Matthew 3:7-10; Mark. 11:14; John 15:2a)

CONCLUSION: We have a duty as a part of the body of Christ to be fruitful. God is no respecter of persons and God has saved and sanctified us so that we may be fruitful in life. Your being fruitful will surely bring good rewards and equally prove that Christ’s death and resurrection to make you live and be fruitful wasn’t in vain; and the Body of Christ (the Church) will not be stagnant because of you. Beloved, there is a promised rain for fruitfulness. Ask for it, you can then live a fruitful life. You can seek for the opportunity today in the house of God, the Church of the living God on earth.

MEMORY VERSE: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16.
